Q: What is in the milk capsules?
A: We take fresh, natural milk from the dairy and extract the water using an innovative, gentle process to produce a very fine milk powder. When combined with water under high 19-bar pressure, the powder becomes liquid once again – creamy, sweet, frothy 2% milk that is perfect for your own ESPRESTO Caffè Latte.
Q: Where can I buy capsules?

Q: Can capsules be recycled?
A: The capsules are comprised of mixed, multi-layer plastics, which means that they are generally not recyclable. Please check with your local recycling/waste authority to see if your area qualifies.
Q: How long does the coffee remain fresh in the capsules?
A: The coffee is freshly packed into the ESPRESTO capsule until ready for use. Please refer to the "Best before" date indicated on each capsule.
Q: How should I store the capsules?
A: For the best beverages quality, ESPRESTO capsules should be stored in a dry area at room temperature. This includes milk capsules.
Q: Can I stop making a drink mid-way through the process?
A: You can press any button to stop your machine mid-way through the process. However, for the best tasting beverages, we recommend that you follow the instructions in the Documentation.
Q: Can I then press the button to continue making my drink?
A: Each time you press the button, the machine will start the new, full cycle for the selected beverage.
Q: How do I get bigger beverages from my machine?
A: The standard ESPRESTO Caffè Latte recipe – one espresso capsule and one milk capsule – creates the right balance of espresso to milk. If you would like a larger, creamier Caffè Latte, you can insert an additional milk capsule and repeat steps to steam the milk. Alternatively, you can purchase milk frother to customise your milk choice and your latte size. For Brewed Coffee, you can add an extra capsule to create a bigger beverage.
Q: What happens if I make the espresso first and then the milk?
A: You will still get the same high-quality ESPRESTO Caffè Latte. However, we recommend making the milk first and extracting the espresso shot second. This method will ensure there is no residual dairy in the machine after making the beverage, thus ensuring the best machine performance over time.
Q: Does fresh or filtered water make a difference?
A: Yes, we highly recommend filtered water for the best tasting beverages.
Q: Why does it seem hard to close the handle after inserting?
A: You will feel some pressure or tension as you close the handle – this is normal. The pressure indicates that the machine is puncturing the capsule in preparation to extract. An additional tip is to make sure to close the handle quickly with one swift, continuous motion. Avoid any back and forth movement of the handle or hesitation when closing it, as this can cause the capsule to fall straight into the capsule discard bin without being punctured.
Q: My extractor ran out of water while I was making my beverage. What should I do?
A: When the extractor runs out of water, we recommend that you lift the handle to discharge the capsule, close the handle, refill the water tank and then press the Espresso button to rinse the system with water. It is not recommended to reuse a capsule once you've started a beverage as it will not deliver proper quality.
Q: I have had a few capsules fall directly into the discard bin without being punctured. Why is this happening and how can I avoid it?
A: Lift the machine's handle all the way back so it is at a 90 degree angle to the machine. Insert the capsule needed for your drink. With one swift, continuous motion, quickly close the handle. You will feel some pressure or tension as you close the handle – this is normal. The pressure indicates that the machine is puncturing the capsule in preparation to extract. Avoid back and forth movement of the handle or hesitation when closing it, as this can cause the capsule to fall straight into the capsule discard bin without being punctured.
Q: Why is there excess liquid in the drip tray after making a beverage?
A: There will be residual liquid from used capsules in the capsule discard bin, which causes excess liquid to collect in the drip tray. Please make sure you discard the used capsules from the discard bin frequently (approximately every 10 uses).
Q: Why is water being dispensed instead of the beverage I selected?
A: The capsule that you inserted may have dropped through the machine into the capsule discard bin without being punctured. Lift the machine's handle all the way back so it is at a 90 degree angle to the machine. Take that same capsule from the discard bin and re-insert it. Close the handle quickly and with one swift, continuous motion. You will feel some pressure or tension as you close the handle – this is normal. The pressure indicates that the machine is puncturing the capsule in preparation to extract. Avoid back and forth movement of the handle or hesitation when closing it.
Q: Why can't I get the capsule discard bin out?
A: This could be because your capsule discard bin is full. Try moving the drip tray from side the side to loosen the bin. We recommend emptying the capsule discard bin every 10 uses.
Q: I cannot fit my mug in below the nozzle - How can I adjust this?
A: The ESPRESTO machine has a height-adjustable drip tray. The tray contains a riser where you can place your mug or cup closer to the nozzle. In order to accommodate larger mugs or cups, you can remove the riser and place the drip tray grate on the lower portion of the drip tray.
Q: How do I clean and/or descale my machine? How often do I need to do this?
A: We recommend that you clean your machine every month or after every 20 to 30 beverages. Please follow the instructions in the Operating Manual when cleaning your machine. The recommended cleaning products for the ESPRESTO System are available from coffeecentral.co.za

A: Yes, the machine will prompt you to rinse it every time it is turned on. Rinsing keeps your machine clean and ensures the
highest-quality, best-tasting beverages.
Q: How often do I have to rinse the machine?
A: Every time you start the machine it will prompt you to rinse. We also recommend rinsing after each drink and at the end of use for the day.
Q: How often do I have to clean the drip tray and discard bin? Are they dishwasher safe?

A: The serial number is located underneath the machine, on a white tag. It is the number located below the bar code.
